My first encounter with art was as far back as I can remember. With my small hands dipped in paint I splashed to life my first piece of artwork during my kindergarten year. There was a distinctive feeling of joy and happiness that swelled through me then as the beautiful acrylic color splattered on my paper danced vivid images through my mind. I started to envision my future full of shapes, color, and a lot of paper; I wanted to be an artist.
I am the first in my family to attend college; finishing school would be a great accomplishment within the España family. While studying the fine arts at Yuba College I decided to change directions with my career. In June 2009, I transferred to the Academy of Art University to pursue a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design. I chose the Academy because I was impressed with the
knowledge and professionalism presented by the instructors I met. It is necessary to learn from instructors who are actively engaged in the arts and graphic design industry in order to gain a deep and thorough understanding of the field.
My ultimate goal in my career is to be an art director or have my own design firm. As a way of giving back to the community, I will develop a center for the arts that will encourage people from different backgrounds to come together and create the future.
